Interviewing potential colleagues
When you work in a place where there seems to be little respect for your work, you, what you think, any of that--well, it's just not that much fun. What saves it for me and for the wonderful people with whom I work is that we do respect each other, have a great sense of humor about all of the crap, and try to take it easy as much as possible.
Today is a good example of how we're treated. A little history:
They hated us so much that they divided our department into two little ones--you know, the ole 'divide and conquer' maxim? So, to thwart that, we all decided that we wanted to be in one and not the other! Of course, the meany got a couple of the youngsters to break rank, and the one a*&-kisser joined the dark side, too. But the rest of us are hanging together. Since the other dept. is so "short-staffed" (none of us can figure out what the heck it is they do, since they aren't allowed to sit on the desk for more than 4 to 5 hours a week! And we're doing most of what their department title is) they are in the process of hiring.
So, today is the first of their interviews for three new positions--where they have 4 people altogether interviewing for 3 openings. Do you think they have a slot in the day's schedule for us to interview their candidate? Nope. Another slap. Wow, but we're already used to these. We get 'em all the time.

I work at a university library too and we are going through a fat lot of crap moving a department back INTO our department after the powers that be FORCED that other department to split from us like 4 years ago. (make sense?) Ugh! Such a mess. Hope you get what you're hoping for!
