Cuban-American Pundits

Cuban-American Pundits
I know; it's been a while. End of the year crap, like churning out the annual summary of activities for the Merit/Peer Review process and annual evaluation. I am posting this blog because it has the full text of Andre Codrescu's keynote address at Midwinter ALA in January 2006, in San Antonio. The heading for the full text post is: Sunday, January 29, 2006 Codrescu Speech in its Entirety. This address caused an apparent rucus at the conference, much to my delight. Take a look and see what you think.
What you need to know about me is that I am a dyed-in-the-wool liberal. Big surprise, eh? And I happen to agree with Codrescu, even if I'm not exactly anti-communist, per se. Andre Codrescu used to comment quit a bit on NPR, though I don't think he does much any more. His talks about his native Romania used to tear me up just about every time I heard him. But he can be funny as hell, too.
Next time I will tell you about another fun site that someone turned me on to recently. And, quite by chance, I found a link to what the Lipstick Librarian is up to these days, too.

Note: recently (April 19, 2006) I see that this blog has gone away. I am still looking for the full text of Codrescu's wonderful speech. If you find it, will you leave info in a comment, please??
