Second Day: retribution?
OK, now I'm back from the conference and whew! what a waste of time and money THAT was. Turns out that the woman who was the 'other &%#@*' did not even show up. And I think I know why--hey, she didn't even know anything about it since she was not the one doing the communicating back and forth. Oh well. This blog thing. I don't know. Why would anyone want to read this stuff. I'm too afraid to put anything down of any REAL consequence for fear of retribution. I did find a couple of cool T shirts (2 for $20 was a good deal, too)--one was the Kiss me, I'm a Librarian shirt, and the other is proclaiming the wearer, "Queen of Reference." To which of course I cannot lay claim, as there is another with that title at the institution where I am gainfully employed. But I liked the shirt so I bought it. I might wear it to the university's softball tournament. That would be fun.So, more later on the two who're leaving this fine educational institution. Can one blame them?
First Day
This thing got started all because I was asked to be on a panel for the state Library Association's Annual Conference. I was asked in late June, 2004 while attending the American Library Association's Annual Conference in Orlando--of course I said yes, even though the topic was not one to set my senses reeling (if you know what I mean....)It was only when I looked at the online listing of the meetings to see when I was to be speaking, that I saw that it was not I, but another librarian in the state who has the same name (and I know of yet one more--in a nearby city!) who would be speaking about how online chat reference services are being integrated into existing staffing patterns. (See what I mean?)So, I am going to the conference, but I won't be performing! We just received info about the conference blog, and in going online to register, I decided to start my own blog. I mean, I doubt that a soul in the world will read this, so who gives? Eh?I will be posting to the conferenceblog, I guess, assuming I take the freakin' time to go online and do it.
